Seeing a corpse that wasn't infected never got any easier. It was just another reminder of how their numbers were dwindling. Leah observed with a great deal of contempt as Rodeo knelt down and started taking items from the body. The things he took were reasonable, though. Keys, which would probably come in handy, and a baton, which was a weapon and would definitely come in handy. It wasn't what he took that bothered her, but the casual manner in which he took them. She'd done the same thing herself a couple of times, but it was always with a great deal of regret... and only when it was necessary. Like now.
She exhaled a breath through her nostrils, forcing her attention away from the dead body and the conflict of opinion warring inside her. While the others peered through the windows of the guard tower, Leah stepped over to the open doorway and peered out at the prison grounds. Everyone else rifled off what infected they could see, but her attention was on the other guard towers, as well as the windows of the surrounding buildings. With the number of zombies around, it was seeming less and less likely that anyone living was still around, but there was still the chance, and that was what she was searching for with her own pair of binoculars.
Rodeo spoke up about what they could probably expect inside the prison. Leah leaned back against the door's frame to listen, alternately glancing at her team and scanning the yard down below. "If there's a second level, Evan and I should stay on the first. Brandon can stay down with us." She paused, debating, then glanced at Rodeo. "You and Charlie can handle the second level." It was a simple enough strategy. To her, at least. Have the two people wielding knives down below. One gunman to watch them. Two more gunmen up above.
When Rodeo started going into an explanation of the different blocks and what manner of criminals were housed there, Leah opened her mouth and was about to ask whether that information had any relevance at all. A prisoner was a prisoner, wasn't it? Whether it was infected or not, they were all dangerous. However, she was glad that she didn't speak up. Knowing which prisoners were stronger was definitely a good bit of information to keep in mind.
'Bulk up and jerk off.' "Charming," she muttered with a roll of her eyes. Straightening up from leaning against the door frame, Leah stepped outside and leaned over the railing to get a better look at what was directly below them. No exploders so far. That was good.
"None of the other guard towers look like they're in use, unless they've got some damn good snipers patrolling and keeping out of sight. This place looks like it's only swarming with infected. Should be a piece of cake."
