Kylie knew all too well that the nightmare they were living in was real. She, like the other survivors in their world, had seen things that most people would have once thought was only possible in movies. But now it was their reality, and they had to survive it despite the fact that it all seemed hopeless at times. She let out a soft sigh when she saw his wound, and muttered the only words that came to her head.
"I'm sorry," she said. For some reason she wanted to reach for his hand, and hold it. Kylie didn't know what good that would have done only that it would have made her feel better in that moment. Perhaps they did bond over their battle wounds, but his injury made her remember that there were some survivors out there that had suffered much more than she had.
She listened intently as he explained the quarantine process, and nodded. It made sense to her, and if they decided that it was to be her fate then she would accept it. It would be worth it to have some place safe to call home for a while. She let out another sigh as they entered the door, and paused for a moment when he asked about family.
"I," she started to say before she paused. "I do, but I don't know if they're alive or not." Kylie pushed her hair away from her face, and heaved a breath of relief when the door closed behind them. "I hope they are though. That would be pretty awesome."
