WHO: Evan and Leah WHAT: The daunting task of getting Leah to let Rodeo come along to Sing Sing. WHERE: Madison Square Garden, roof. WHEN: 03/04/19, afternoon. RATING: Medium for swears. STATUS: In progress
Daunting tasks were annoying tasks. And that sage bit of advice was brought to Evan's mind by the fact that somehow he'd been stuck with the daunting task of trying to get Leah to open her mind to the idea of Rodeo freaking Williams-or-Hawkins-or-whatever (Evan still preferred Tennessee Walker) coming with them to Sing Sing. If that wasn't a daunting task, Evan had the idea of "daunting" wrong. He sighed at that thought as he walked through the front doors of Madison Square Garden and set about looking for Leah.
The fact that this was more or less a surprise visit was annoying enough. Evan didn't like being here any more than he liked being at Grand Central most of the time. Even less because here, he ran the risk of running into Brandon Stone. But, here he was.
He pointedly avoided what he knew to be the O'Brien's sleeping area... he wasn't a fan of what the man had put Leah through, especially since she'd already been through enough in her life. And he didn't trust himself not to say just that if he encountered the guy. If he was going to be building an earth-shaking revolution, he needed people on his side, and that was a quick and simple way to keep that from happening.
When he realized that he was approaching the Stones' sleeping area, it occurred to him that he'd gotten this far without so much as a half-game-plan. Did he trust himself to wing it? Couldn't hurt, he supposed. He'd always been fairly decent at reasoning with Leah, anyway, for some weird reason. He suspected it had something to do with their similar histories and similar upbringings. Either way, it was just strange.
Standing a little more confidently, he approached the sleeping area and asked a couple of people nearby if they knew where Leah was. The roof. Okay. Evan headed up that way, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he headed up the stairs and pushed the door open.
"You up here, Bitchy?" he called out to the seemingly-empty roof.
