"Oh, no freaking way. For one, your face is so much more angular," she started, smiling a little. "And for two, you actually have fashion sense. None of that GQ slow-mo-walk crap." The smile grew a little. "For all the teasing I did, the leather jacket and jeans combo works for you." Her tone was serious now. "Gives you that whole mysterious, sexy look."
She shrugged and nodded. "In some ways, I did. But in a lot of ways, I got it easy, too. I know that for a fact." She didn't go into what she meant, because she knew that he knew. Illusioning away a pair of wings every day was nowhere near as difficult as controlling a bloodlust that she'd heard through the grapevine was painful to control sometimes. "I think every non-human leads a pretty solitary life." There was a tinge of sadness in her voice, but she shook it off when she looked up at him. "We either hide who we are or else we go through life alone or get killed." The bright, mischievous glow of her wings dimmed with that comment.
"And that was entirely too depressing. Sorry," she said, trying to shake off the blanket of negativity she'd thrown over the room.
For a second, she considered asking what could be better than a night in her company, but she decided that she didn't want to be quite so brazen. "Well then, Count Chocula, looks like you've made a new friend, doesn't it? Last thing I expected when I walked through that door, mind you..." she added seriously. "You're just lucky you're super strong. I can throw a decent punch. Makes humans stumble a little, at least."
As she smiled at his comment about spicy food being the best, Rae ducked her head coyly again. At the recollection of human food however, she tilted her head and looked up at him. "Is it rude of me to ask you how old you are?" she smoothed a hand through her hair. "Feel free not to answer. I'm just... curious."
She chuckled awkwardly at the talk about Lindsay Lohan and shrugged. "I'll take your word for it, I guess. But Colin? Really?" her eyes widened. "Wow. I... never would've guessed. Secret's safe with me, though. I promise."
Not as strong or as fast, she heard him say, and she had to wonder how strong and how fast he was when he had fed. But... maybe she'd be able to find out.
She bit her lip, a little nervous, and looked up at him. "Well then, uh..." she reached into her purse and pulled out a hair tie, pulling her long blond hair into a ponytail to get it out of his way. "If you need to? Go ahead..." she said as she pulled herself up off the floor. She'd often been described as too trusting. But if he'd wanted to kill her, he could have done it by now.
