"Swearing's more eloquent than talking like a five year old," Rae said sagely, though it probably wasn't. It just seemed like the right thing to say at the time. "But I'm glad my faerie ass has permission to grace the floor of this dingy basement with it's presence," she said with a little giggle. That sounded ridiculous even to her own ears.
Watching his expression change, Rae grinned in smug self-satisfaction when he agreed to call her Rae. "Okay, I admit, I just wanted to see your reaction to that," she mused with a little smirk. "You can call me Tinkerbell if you want, Count Chocula. I promise, I won't invoke the name of the Sparkle Empire on you," she told him seriously. "Besides, you look nothing like a Cullen."
She paused for a minute when he mentioned faerie friends, then shook her head no. "There aren't actually that many fae in this area," she explained. "I know one that isn't in my family, and that's Ash. And he left town a few years ago, because he was being too heavily hunted." She shrugged a shoulder. "Being non-human in this area is kind of solitary, I'm sure you understand that." She kept to herself outside of school, work and family time, and when she did get out among people, she had to hide herself all the time. "I'm always hiding it. Casting illusion over my wings from when I walk out of my apartment in the morning to when I get home at night. Because if anyone sees it, they don't want to talk to me anymore. Or..." she nodded to the window, sure that he'd get it. "But this isn't a pity party. It's life. It's... the hand I was dealt and I deal with it," she said plainly.
Rae snorted and looked up at Eli when he categorized himself as an innocent observer. "Innocent observer my eye. Besides, it's not like it even hurt," she said with a chuckle. "But I'll grant you that we didn't exactly get off on the right foot. How about we clean slate things from here? Since everything since then has been so... nice." And that it had been.
A light laugh when he called her saucy. "As long as it's spicy sauce, I'm totally okay with being a saucy faerie," she said, obviously entertained.
The laugh was a little heartier, but still soft enough not to alert their pursuers when Elliot told her that no, Angelina wasn't a vampire but Lindsay Lohan was. "I always thought Lindsay was more likely to be a succubus. Encounters with her hardly ever seem pleasant. That and she doesn't seem like she has a soul." Rae was one of the few who had always believed that vampires had souls.
She looked up at him when he mentioned that they could have hidden better if they'd needed to and she nodded her head. "I believe that," she said.
He mentioned how he hadn't fed and Rae's head tilted sideways. She thought for a second, and looked up at him. "You could just run. And I could illusion myself invisible and try to escape." She wouldn't be able to, but she could try.
Or... she paused again, looking down at the floor and weighing her options. She didn't know him from a hole in the ground. She didn't know if he had any semblance of control. For all she knew... he'd kill her straight out. But, for some weird reason? She felt okay when she said, "or... if your control is good? If you don't think you'll kill me? You can..." she let the sentence hang for a second, "you can... you know. Drink from me."
