Oh, yeah, Anya knew exactly what Mike was talking about now. While hordes of runners were appropriate for marathons, they were completely uncalled for for simple deliveries. Two, maybe three, should be the limit of runners: one to run and one for backup. Or, in Anya and Cooper's case, one to run, and one as a medic. That was Anya's main reason for joining him, after all: if anything happened to Cooper, she wanted to be there to help him. It was what she had been training to do even before the zombie apocalypse attacked the nation with everything it had. Being an athletic trainer meant helping out with any injuries, and there were countless injuries that occurred when people were running for their lives.
"Where are you headed?" Anya asked. "I wouldn't mind coming with, if you don't. I could use the exercise."
And the excuse to visit some other people she had met much too briefly during a run.
