Evan stopped abruptly and Lukas could tell from the tightness in his voice that there must be a lot of infected around. Immune or not, you were dead if you got torn to pieces by that many zombies. All the same he seemed to have calmed down a little. Perhaps being in the face of danger took the edge for him.
Lukas looked around the area that Evan was motioning to and mapping out a plan in his head for how he might get across without getting ripped apart. It seemed straight forward enough. He felt the adrenaline start pumping through him as it always did before he did something unsafe like this. The adrenaline was what got you through it more often than not.
Evan said that he would cover him and he nodded, "Fine. When I get across, I'll wait on the top of the barricade and cover you while you come across..." He wasn't about to let the guy get mauled after watching his back. Even if he'd been a bit of a jerk.
Lukas took a deep breath and booked it across towards the barricade. It was mostly shufflers though and it took them a moment to notice him running right by them. He dodged in between two of them, feeling the fingers of one of them barely graze his arm as they made a grab for him. He made it safely to the barricade and climbed up on top of it and out of reach. Pulling his rifle out, he shot several shufflers that stood in between Evan and the barricade, making a make-shift path for him to get through. He motioned with his hand for Evan to come across, keeping a watch for some of the more troublesome infected.
