Apart from her friends visiting, Allie honestly hadn't expected this holiday to be anything special. She'd ended things with Brandon, something that needed to be done, and while she was glad to be rid of the secretive boyfriend who only visited when it suited him, it had definitely taken its toll on her mood. She wasn't all that surprised that it hadn't worked out. After all, romance was a lot harder to achieve when zombies roamed the streets. David's gifts — all of them — had made her feel special, though. He spoiled her... when she wasn't even his to spoil. At least not currently. Rae had told her to give him a chance, that he really liked her, but Allie still wasn't certain that was a good idea. By giving David a chance, it meant she would feel compelled to be completely honest with him. He didn't deserve to be with a liar. When he learned the truth, though, Allie expected his opinion of her to change. It was inevitable, really, considering all the things she'd done. All the people she'd stolen from. All the men and women she'd slept with just so she could get what she wanted. David didn't — shouldn't — want to be with a woman like that. All of this and more circled around Allie's mind as she made her way to the small vet area of Federal Hall. This makeshift animal hospital wasn't nearly as elaborate as the one she'd seen at Liberty, but it served its purpose, especially for the guard dogs. Entering the area, she looked around for David, spotting him over near one of the dogs. She approached him slowly, still unsure what exactly she wanted to say to him. "Did you keep that hug warm for me?" She asked, hesitantly, smoothing out the fabric of her shirt. |
