Good moods were few and far between, for a woman like Charlie. Usually they were little more than a sense of satisfaction caused by a few good zombie kills. There were rare occasions where she felt genuine happiness, but since losing her brother, those moments were short-lived, like little flickering flames lit on a particularly damp day-- a moment of brightness followed by more of the same dull pain.
But this morning had been different. It wasn't something she could quite put her finger on-- maybe it was meeting a kindred spirit like Rogue, or ROdeo's reassurance that he wasn't leaving her, not even for someone like her. Or perhaps it was that she had seen Dani again, an old friend that she'd long since thought dead. Either way, she knew one thing: this was the first time in over a year could remember waking up without dreading the day ahead, and not even a tasteless joke from Rodeo's little sister could dampen her spirits.
Even Charlie's posture as she laid on her bedroll was unusually relaxed: she was flat on her back, the warm blankets pulled up to her chest (happy or not, it was still cold), her nose stuck in a copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a small smirk on her face at the utter absurdity of the familiar words. The smirk widened into a pleased grin as Rodeo walked through the door, and she tilted her head back to peer at him upside-down. "What if I don't wanna be naked?" She retorted, raising an eyebrow at him playfully.
