At Elliot's reaction, Rae's smile went from slight and hopeful to full-blown and completely genuine. Whatever doubt had been in her mind about the cut-and-dye idea was completely gone now when she saw how happy he seemed to get about it. "Hey, when Rae Alghren sets her mind to something? It's not a matter of if it'll happen, it's a matter of when," she smirked as she tightened her grip on the purse she carried. She knew, of course, that he didn't know what was in it, but that didn't matter. She knew, and it made her feel even better to know that when he did know, he'd be happy.
"Besides, I'm totally a woman of my word. I seem to remember a certain conversation taking place where I promised I'd do something like this eventually anyway," she added, completely pleased with herself thanks to the smile on his face and the way the kids around them seemed to be in better spirits than she'd seen them in ages.
Of course, at the very least, she could give him the Pop Rocks she'd found for him. "Got a couple things for you," she started with a smile, letting the purse slide down her arm and opening it so that only she could see it. "I seem to remember you mentioning that you liked these. Maybe it was someone else, or maybe I just imagined it, but either way…" she grabbed the Pop Rocks and held them out to him. "Here!" she beamed. "I won't even make you say trick-or-treat!"
He asked her if she did this and she nodded her head, shrugging a shoulder. "Guilty as charged. I figured we deserved some fun."
