"Goddammit, Adelaide," he snapped, and for the first time in her life, she caught a glimpse of another side to her brother-- a side Rodeo had always guarded her from, a side he never allowed her to see. There was a dangerous flash in his eyes, that old poisonous rage creeping to the surface, threatening to take him by the throat. He yanked her in closer by his grip on her arm, his eyes intense and angry as they stayed locked with her's. This is a fuckin' engagement ring, ain't it? You best tell me who he is and where he is, right fuckin' now."
