"Wouldn't and couldn't." She tried to give him a reassuring smile, but it faltered as soon as it came. If things took a turn for the worse, Rae would take care of things. Her friend hadn't said as much, but she had her gun with her. That meant she was prepared to do what she had to, to prevent Ollie from becoming one of those undead creatures and attacking Allie.
When he brushed her hair aside, Allie noted that Ollie's hand didn't move with its usual swiftness, which would've been enough proof that he wasn't going to be okay. The cough, however, and the lethargy in his posture gave everything away. At the very least, her promise to keeping on living, as it were, seemed to calm him.
As if he needed permission to ask her anything. In that moment, Allie would've done and given him anything he wanted, especially if it meant he could stay with her. She nodded in response, then listened as he voiced his request. Allie blinked back a few more tears, nodding again, not paying any attention to the fact that David's name had been the first one mentioned. "Of-Of course, I'll do that." Not only was it safer, and not only would she have friends to look out for her, but it would also be the last place she had to connect her with her brother. That was an easy request to see through.
"What's the second thing?" She prompted him, her hand once again closing around his. "Whatever it is, I'll agree. Just tell me what it is." Before it's too late.
