When Allie heard the news from Elliot that her brother was hidden away in a secret makeshift quarantine area, she didn't know what to make of the situation. He couldn't have been bitten. Not Ollie. Not her wonderful, master-of-escaping twin. He wouldn't have gotten bitten because he was so good at keeping out of the zombies' reach. That's what she kept telling herself as she hurried down through the Liberty safehouse behind Elliot, letting him lead her wherever Ollie was being held. He couldn't have been bitten, or else why wouldn't he be in a proper quarantine, surrounded by guards? Elliot was explaining the situation; how he and Rae had a secret room in the Liberty safehouse that they used for their own private use. How Ollie wouldn't have to endure the heartless and torturous government-controlled quarantine. That Allie could be with him... That was the only part she heard. That she could be with Ollie. That was all she wanted. To know he was okay. Because he hadn't been bitten. Because this wasn't happening. Because he was okay. He had to be. "In here?" The door was in a dark corner, not easily seen unless you were right on top of it. Seeing Elliot's nod, Allie turned her gaze to the door, unsure whether she wanted to see what was beyond. She reached out a hand, hesitating for a moment, before pushing it open and stepping inside. "Ollie? Are you here?" There wasn't much light in the room. A few LED lanterns cast a haunting glow over the seats and the stage. |
