'Pause' was perfectly accurate for the moment Brannon exited the room. There was going to be a significant amount of information and emotion to process tonight. A growing anxiety had already begun to itch her skin; not over the momentary meeting of the woman who had helped save her brother, but the fact that she and Luke would still have to stay in quarantine. If Bans could bust them out early, Alana would jump at the chance. That, however, seemed unlikely.
She was lost in her own thoughts again and should have offered some words to her nephew but then the door open again and in walked Brannon with Leah. Her arms were wrapped tightly around her middle, hands clasped on her elbows as if she were holding in the mixed emotions and excitement. Alana definitely offered up a smile and watched as poor Luke was awkwardly introduced. There was a lot going on for him, too. Maybe they could talk about it later, after things calmed down.
Then it was Alana's turn and a handshake just seemed... inefficient as a gesture. Her arms fell down at her sides for just a moment before they were wrapped around Leah. Alana did her best not to outright smother the woman, but she did play a large role in saving her brother's life. "Thank you," she said softly, and pulled back after a respectable amount of time. "Thank you for helping to save my brother. You don't know how indebted we are to you for that."
There would be more Alana would wish say but it would be wildly inappropriate given they literally just met. Like, 'I know my brother must really like you, so do you like him too?' or 'Are you planning on breaking my brother's heart?' The O'Brien nebby, protective nature subsided with another smile.
