"Ah, so you kill me in different ways in your dreams. That's a relief," she deadpanned right back at him. "And here I was expecting more sinister methods of torture. I can rest easy now, knowing my dream self is in such good hands." That last part was accompanied by a scathing look, showing just how much she loathed when he pointed out how superior he was. They both knew he was the brains of the operation. With the obvious exception of Lilah, Leah hated when other people pointed out how much smarter they were than her. Thankfully, defending herself with sarcastic remarks came second nature.
Chin in hand, she glanced up at him with an inscrutable look in her eye when he started singing. "All those bumps to the head must've caused a lot of brain damage. And of those two options you just listed? I'd go with impossible to please. Makes a lot more sense." Because she wasn't about to admit to liking any version of Evan, even in the loosest sense of the word. Putting voice to that little secret would only give him more fuel to mock her with.
Leah huffed a laugh, gesturing at him with her index finger to concede his point. "That kind of implies that our being here together right now is a huge threat to the continued existence of mankind. Ironic, too." Maybe she wasn't the sharpest pencil in the box, but she wasn't the dullest either. And she was always happy to be able to throw it in Evan's face whenever the opportunity arose that she could prove her understanding of whatever it was they were talking about.
Good. So she'd finally gotten under his skin with one of her remarks. A look of smug satisfaction crossed her features. "Ice skate sparring. Now that sounds like an activity I'll enjoy." Any activity that allowed her the chance to get back into ice skating was welcome and if it served the purpose of honing her combat skills at the same time? Even better.
"I think I'd prefer the verbal brazenness." Although she wasn't exactly sure why. Better than fearing her brother would get hurt one day in the midst of a stupid and risky plan. Not better because... all the more difficult to convince herself how important it was to keep existing. Leah chewed thoughtfully on her lip for a moment, before amending her answer. "Or maybe not."
Time to steer the conversation away from the family stuff. It was getting too personal. "So, is this all you wanted to show me?" Leah gestured at the sketchpad and blueprints spread out in front of her.
