Rodeo was bewildered by the boy's reaction, but he tried not to take it personally. He'd clearly been through some shit. Rodeo would have to earn his trust, that was all. At least he was safe now, even if he didn't realize it yet. Rodeo tucked Scotty in, then drew his hands away, understanding the boy's discomfort.
"I'll see you in the morning, alright kiddo?" Rodeo said quietly, offering Scotty a reassuring smile. "You're safe in here, so sleep tight." With that, he moved to his own bedroll, settling in just a few feet from Scotty. He wasn't sure if his presence nearby was reassuring to the boy, but he hoped it was.
