Rodeo frowned at Scotty when the boy pulled away, not sure why a child wouldn't want to be rescued. This little boy couldn't survive for long on his own-- sure, he seemed bright and wisely wary, but he was still just a kid. Rodeo knew he'd be better off in back at one of the safehouses.
"I ain't leavin' you out here," Rodeo said, taking a step towards Scotty as the boy backed away. He knelt down to get on eye level with him, trying to keep the boy from getting spooked and taking off. "Do you got family out here? If you got lost or somethin', I'll take you back to 'em. If you ain't, then you're like most of us, and you oughta come with me. Look, I stay in a big ol' library with a whole bunch of other folks. Whatcha like readin' about? Whatever you like, they got it. Plus I'll read to you, you like hearin' a story? They got Br'er Rabbit, you ever hear that story?"
