In all honesty, Leti would have wanted to spend her New Year's Eve like she'd spent so many others. Curled up on the couch with the light of her life...her daughter, Araceli. Ever since her sweet girl had been a baby, they'd watched the New Year's Even special together and they'd celebrated the new year with each other. But this year, at her friends' urging, she'd left Araceli at home with a sitter. It had been very difficult for her to do, even though Araceli had insisted that her go out and have fun with her friends. I'm ten years old, Mama. She'd said. It's not so easy to cuddle with me anymore. So you should go out and just have fun! We can do our New Year's tomorrow. And who was she to say no to that? So, Leti had gone to her girlfriend's house. At her insistence, she'd borrowed a dress as well as a pair of silver sandals and earrings.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she felt almost like she had before she'd had a child. At the very least, she looked like Damian's girl. But that time in her life was long gone, and she didn't focus on it once the "party train" pulled out for New Year's fun. She honestly didn't have any idea where she was being taken, but apparently the bar they were going to was 'the greatest,' as so decided by one of her friends.
At the very least, Faherty's was loud. There were a lot of people having their own conversations. Not to mention the TV was going loud with the special at Times Square. But still, she gave herself over to the atmosphere easily enough. Talking, drinking (at least a little) and socializing. It was a nice change of pace. When their glasses were empty, it was decided they'd be going back to the bar. So once a group had vacated the spot, their group moved in, placing her conveniently in front of the guy tending bar.
She smiled a bit at the compliment. "Why thank you. I do try to go for what makes me look nicer." As for what she wanted... "Hm...how about a tequila sunrise?"
