"Absolutely. It's not a problem at all." Charlie answered without hesitation. She was off the clock in a half an hour anyway, and she couldn't blame the woman for being shaken up. She realized she must have looked pretty intimidating, what with the helmet, SWAT vest, and the rather large rifle strapped to her back, and hurriedly took the helmet off with an awkward smile. That probably made her look a little less soldier-like and a little more human. "I'm almost off for the night anyway, so it's really no trouble at all."
"Let me just tell my boss that he's gonna have to cover my post for the next half hour, 'till my shift's up," she informed the woman. "He's not going to be thrilled, but I don't give a shhhh...ugar." Her gaze shifted to the small child, and she gave another awkward grin. The last thing this poor kid needed was to learn bad words from the short lady with the big gun. Charlie would have to watch that from here on out- she wasn't exactly used to being around kids, nor was she particularly good with them.
Taking a few steps away from them again, she flicked her radio back on, this time speaking in a hushed voice. When it came to Agent Paulson, the agent in charge of coordinating security, there were likely to be a few obscenities exchanged. "Yeah, Paulson? ...yeah. No. I'm going to walk her to Times Sqauare to meet her brother. What? No-- No, he's a cop-- No, I'm not gonna 'hand them off' like a goddamn package, sir." She pinched the bridge of her nose in irritation. "Fine. Go right ahead, Paulson. I don't give a shit if it gets docked from my pay or if I get written up. I'm still the best damn shot you have and don't you forget it. I'll see you Monday." With that, she shut the thing off.
Turning back towards Leah again, she gave the woman a thumbs-up. "We're good to go. And it's nice to meet you, Leah Stone. Call me Charlie, since, officially, I'm no longer on the clock."
