LOL, it's okay
He wanted her money, that's all. If she couldn't convince herself that was all the brute wanted, she'd be thrown into a blind panic and no doubt be the reason she and her daughter got hurt.
"Someone please help me!" Leah cried out again. It felt like her wrist was going to break. Dipping her shoulder, her purse slipped down, catching between her hand and the thief's. "Just take my money. Here, take everything I have. Just please don't hurt us!"
FBI? FBI! Oh thank god! Leah dared not turn her face away from her attacker, but the relief flooding through her was palpable. Someone had heard her!
Yanking her purse out of her grip, the man shoved Leah away from him. The sudden blow knocked her back, but she remained on her feet, clinging to Marigold as the thief made away with her belongings.
Only then did she allow herself to turn toward her rescuer. Leah brushed the tears from her face, attempting to collect herself so that she could calm her daughter, who'd been woken by the confrontation and was now wailing in fear.
"Thank you! Thank you so much. He just... he came out of nowhere." That was how it always happened, though, wasn't it? Criminals popping out of nowhere, catching people unawares. Leah's rational mind knew that, but she'd never been attacked like that before. Not with Marigold around, anyway.
