Evan was usually alone on the roof around here. Since it wasn't one of those scenic roofs, with an epic view of the city, most people preferred to stay in the safe area of the safehouse and crowd around all over the place but Evan actually liked it up here; he liked the privacy. It was chilly, yeah, and that was a little bit bracing, but he didn't mind the cold. He was the only one he knew who didn't mind the cold, actually, which was why it was such a surprise to hear a sound on the other side of the rooftop.
He turned, glancing to see who'd invaded his birthday celebration and rolled his eyes when he saw that it was Leah. Of fucking course it was Leah. Because it couldn't be a happy birthday without the one person in the world with a worse attitude than you, right?
It didn't matter. He wasn't going to leave the rooftop and he definitely didn't expect Snow White on PMS to leave either. He took another long pull from the champagne bottle before setting it down on the cement. As long as they were both sitting there and ignoring one another's presence, at the very least Evan could light up a smoke.
Maybe a small part of it was vindictive. He knew that the woman was willing to get into a bitchfest over the last pack of smokes at CVS, and he'd lost that time… but he actually had some this time and he wanted to announce that to her in possibly the most obnoxious way he could. With a smirk, he took a cigarette from the pack and lit it, bringing it to his lips and inhaling.
God damn it'd been a long time since he'd had a smoke. Wish it wasn't menthol but whatever… he thought.
