Evan ignored the question, because he firmly believed that gluttony stemmed beyond gluttony for food, but he was beyond explaining himself to Stoneheart. So, he just shrugged and laughed, going with her second comment. " C'est vrai, c'est vrai," he commented in French, knowing that it'd get under her skin. "But there are worse things in the world than being an asshole."
It was an odd moment, when Leah told him that he didn't need to repay her (not to mention that it was the first time he'd ever thought of her as Leah, instead of Stoneheart or some other generic nickname). He still felt like he needed to, of course, so he held his index finger up asking her to wait. "Just… wait a second, okay? I at least owe you something…" he said, turning around and hurried back to his pack of cigarettes. He slid at least half of the remaining cigarettes out of the pack and then headed back over to Leah.
"Here. I know it's a small thing compared to what you just did for me, but…" he shrugged a shoulder, his voice soft and low, completely humbled by the fact that she'd just given him one of the few things that could actually help bring him closure. "Consider that and your party favors a few tokens of my appreciation nonetheless. Thank you."
He turned around now that he'd said what he needed to say, smoothing a hand through his hair and walking toward the edge of the roof again. He picked Olivia's ring up off the pack of cigarettes and closed his eyes, taking a slow, steadying breath and trying to keep himself from crying.
