Re: David and Eli
Rolling his eyes, David put his trust in his brother not to make too much of a fool of him. “All right, but I'm holding you to it.” The image of Elliot singing what had been known as the Song ever since, had David laughing in spite of everything. Leave it to his brother to cheer him up without even trying. David rolled his eyes again at the threat, doing a fake 'bring it on' gesture and raising his chin at his older brother. Truth was, Elliot could probably kick his ass six ways to Sunday and David knew it, but the truth also was that he wouldn't. “Looks like we have ourselves an agreement, then. You have to admit, though, that song was an instant classic. Bet Rae'd think it was funny.”
The thought about Allie maybe teaching David to flirt was both absolutely appealing and completely unappealing. Appealing because, well... she was a pretty, nice girl. Flirting with her would've been a definite boost to David's confidence, so long as it went well. Unappealing, however, because well... David would get his hopes up even further. And that was a terrible idea.
“I think he's her boyfriend or something,” David shrugged a shoulder and looked at Brandon, who had since caught sight of them and narrowed his eyes menacingly at David. David turned his head away and stared at his drink, taking another slow sip from it. “He seemed to really make her happy, though. Lit up like a Christmas tree when she saw him. So... maybe that's what she wants.”
Head raising when Elliot mentioned Allie not deserving him, he shook his head. “It's not her fault, though. It's mine,” he told Elliot, not looking up to meet his eyes because he knew that he'd try to argue that point. “I should've know better than to get my hopes up, you know? She really is great, though. And she deserves to be happy, even if it's him that makes her happy.”
David laughed at the offer to kick Brandon's ass. “You're joking, right? Look at the guy. You're tough and all but I think he'd break both your arms before you could even blink,” he added with a wry smirk. “Seriously, though. It sucks, but it'll be okay. I'm pretty good at brushing that stuff off, you know that.”
