Re: David and Eli
It was both jealousy and completely not jealousy. Not jealousy of Elliot for having Rae, but jealous of Elliot for having someone like Rae. “All right, fine. I'll drink it. But if this ends with me singing some stupid song again I'm telling Rae about the Pretty Princess Song incident,” he said seriously, referring to the incident when Elliot had lost a bet against David and had to dress in all pink and sing some asinine song David had written in front of whoever had been in the park that day. “I'm serious.”
Rolling his eyes at the comment about needing practice, David frowned. It was probably true. “Maybe,” he muttered, “but not with your girlfriend.” Maybe if he was better at flirting, this could have been avoided one way or another. Allie would've seen that he was interested and told him that she had a boyfriend or maybe she'd have been interested in him instead.
“Sorry. I didn't...” David frowned. He chuckled awkwardly and shook his head no. “No,” he affirmed verbally. “No, she definitely didn't turn into a bitch. Exactly the opposite. She's great. I can actually talk to her, too,” he added, laughing bitterly. “She's great. Really great. But that's...” he paused. Did he really need to bring Eli down with him?
He took a drink to regain his composure, turning his head to look out at where he'd left Allie and Brandon on the dance floor. “That's the problem,” he said, nodding over in their direction.
