Re: David and Eli
A small part of David wanted to tell Elliot to go spend time with his girlfriend. They were getting too old for David to always need consolation when something didn't go his way. Besides that, it was far too frequent. David dealt with letdown a lot better than he did when he was a teenager. Granted, he was still a little down and probably would be for a little while, he'd brush himself off and move on.
Elliot shouldn't have been concerning himself with David's issues when there was a party happening and he had an awesome girlfriend who was head over heels for him... and who was standing about fifteen feet away watching them with a concerned look on her face. The fact that David was looking caught her attention and she turned away, busying herself with her drink instead.
Chuckling, David turned his attention back to Elliot and took the beer, staring at it for a second once it was in his hand. "You really think that's a good idea?" he asked his brother with a wry smirk. "Last time I got drunk I obnoxiously flirted with your girlfriend, remember?"
In spite of his words, though, he popped the top of the can and brushed some of the wayward foam off of his face. "Thanks," he told Elliot, before taking a small sip. No, he didn't like drinking a lot. But he felt like maybe, what had just happened with Allie earned him a bit of a drink. So he took it. "I promise, I won't flirt with Rae tonight. Not too keen on being punched." His night had already sank into the tubes enough without the help of a punch from his brother.
The next question was met with an annoyed arched eyebrow. "What does it look like?" The answer was uncharacteristically hostile, but David really didn't want to admit to having had his hopes up again.
