Re: David and Eli
As bad as it probably sounded, Elliot hadn't paid a whole lot of attention to what his brother had been up to this evening. He knew the gist of the other man's plan: spending time with Rae's friend Allie. But other than that, Elliot had been too caught up in spending New Year's Eve with Rae. Call him self-centered, but when he had his arms wrapped around a beautiful woman, nothing else really mattered.
Which was why Rae was the one to point out that something was wrong. He followed her gaze, listening when she muttered in his ear that it looked like something had gone wrong. David was sitting alone, looking downtrodden. And Allie was nowhere to be seen.
Elliot hardly needed his girlfriend to tell him that brotherly consoling was needed, but he nodded his thanks for the beer, gave her a quick kiss on the lips, and sauntered over to where his little brother sat.
He pulled out the chair next to David and sank into it, planting the beer bottle on the table in front of his brother. "It's not even midnight and you're partied out already? Drink up." He reached for a handful of chips in the bowl on the table, popping some into his mouth as he studied his brother's expression.
He knew better than to ask where Allie was, even if he didn't know for sure. Given David's poor track record with girls, it seemed safe to assume that Allie had found someone else to keep her company.
"What's up?" He asked instead, using the vague question to test the waters.
