Re: Mike & Kori
It was odd. It had been five years since Mike had had anything like this -- a careless dance with someone he loved -- and he'd spent an unknowable amount of time thinking about Kori, trying to keep the image of her face clear in his mind, remember the sound of her voice. But now that this was happening, and things had become like this... It felt simultaneously new and painfully nostalgic. Like deja vu.
All the lights and music were swirling around him, wobbly as he felt on his legs. He attempted to spin her the way he would have when they were younger, drawing her in close. This can't be right, the sober voice in Mike's head insisted. You know you're a damn fool and she's gonna be mad at you forever.
"No? You ain't? I might be. Just look at you," he told her half-teasingly, half-tenderly. "Prettiest girl I ever seen."
Mike took a chance and stepped closer so that they were inches apart, his hand still clasped in hers.
