Re: O'Brien, Leah?, Open
A wry smirk appeared upon hearing that. "Maybe it just means you never had the right motivation. Any of them ever try to kiss you?" His was a new reaction to her. Leah couldn't recall ever hitting a guy and having him later express admiration for her strength. Most of them just tried to threaten her, which generally led to more hitting, or her brother going after them. As it sounded, O'Brien seemed to have learned his lesson. At least partially.
He agreed with her sentiment about anger issues, and she pursed her lips. No sense in arguing with something that was true, right? At least about her. "Life's too short, especially now, to worry about regrets." And now she was rationalizing what he'd done? Right about now would be the time where Brandon would tease her about going soft. "It was stupid, what you did, but probably not the stupidest thing you've ever done. Or will do."
"No, but I'd say I should at least look worse off than the person asking me how I am." Physically she was fine. Mentally? Well, that was another question entirely. She'd already made a point of mentioning her short temper. Rage was easier to deal with, plain and simple. "I've been better, I guess."
Baby Thor. A laugh was in her voice as she asked, "Do you come up with nicknames for everyone you meet, or are some people just special?"
She rested a hand on her hip, watching the crowd begin to gather around for the celebration. Based on the picture of him on the forums, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to spot the annoying hick if he dared to show his face around here. "Maybe I won't kill him," she amended sullenly, "but he definitely deserves to have something bad happen to him."
Leah shook her head, dismissing what O'Brien was saying about Baby Thor reminding him of someone. "He's an asshole. Probably just reminds you of a guy you put behind bars."
Always helpful, even when she was at her worst. No, it would be a mistake to let O'Brien be her friend. She'd already let things go too far when she'd helped him at the pharmacy. Should've just left him there to search for his medicine on his own. And get eaten by zombies because of his own damn stupidity. If something happened to him now? She couldn't be so sure she wouldn't feel bad about it.
Leah paused with her back to him, listening to him repeat his offer of hanging out with him here at the party. She allowed herself a smile at his ineptitude with the camera the host of the party had given him, yet when she turned around to face him, the smile was gone. "You never quit, do you? I tell you to leave me alone, you don't listen. I tell you I don't want a friend, you don't listen. I didn't say as much but it was perfectly clear I didn't want you to kiss me. But you did."
Gaze focused on the table, she took a few steps back toward it, before looking up at O'Brien. "Those people who told you my real name probably warned you how — what's the nice word for it? — difficult? I am? Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for you to listen to them, O'Brien."
