Eloise's mother and father had never had opinions either way about what Eloise did, or should do. They were proud of her in the way they were supposed to be, because she was their daughter -- but they'd never really had much to say. Thinking of them now in this context was strange. She supposed that if they knew what she was up to, they wouldn't be surprised.
"Yes... If you hear a Waker, you can always assume that there will be others soon, as long as the Waker is clearly audible." Ellie avoided Wakers entirely for that very reason, though she had always wanted to see one up close; it was just never a good idea for a lone woman. "It's strange. I've never seen other infected attack them, though, or even attempt attack. I do wonder if they initially come because they are attracted by a voice that could be living."
She took the binoculars, silent for a long moment, and then glanced at Brennan again. "That's... Strange. I think we'd be better off going in to look up close, if anything."
