Another group of boats was due to arrive at Liberty today. Usually, Elliot made a point of going out to the peer to greet the newcomers, but today had been a particularly busy one in the infirmary. Between the woman giving birth and the old man who'd lost his foot to a swimmer, the EMT had had his hands full all morning.
Someone was supposed to be delivering a bunch of knitted clothing, or so he'd been informed. Gloves and hats and the like. That would come in handy. Everyone had probably already laid claim on whatever the people had brought over, so he didn't hold much hope that he'd get anything. Which was fine. Thankfully, he had plenty of clothing to keep him warm through the winter.
A guy came into the medical area to inform them that a girl had been injured on the pier. Elliot, realizing that everyone else was more busy than he was, told the man that he would check on the girl, and he wandered off to the office where she'd been left.
As he walked into the office that had been transformed into something of an examining room, Elliot chuckled when he heard the young blonde's introduction. "The pier can be a bit slippery, especially this time of year," he said, his attention immediately going to the girl's hand that was pressed against an area stained with blood.
"My name's Eli. Tell me what happened." As he spoke, he walked over to a locked cabinet that held some of the island's medical supplies. Mostly bandages and gauze; things that could staunch bleeding. Had this girl's injury been more damaging, she wouldn't have been put in here and told to wait. At least, Elliot hoped not.
