It was a rare thing, people not taking offense to Evan's opinion. He was opinionated, and generally speaking his opinions were sort of minority, and he really wasn't afraid to express them. It was what had garnered him his reputation, and he was fine with that. Eloise, however, said she didn't take offense, which was nice.
"Good to know," Evan gave her a slight smile.
It was strange. Evan wasn't the type to put his trust in a virtual stranger. He didn't like being known; it made it easier to function on his own when people didn't know him. But with Eloise, things just came easy. He wasn't sure if he liked it yet, but he hadn't made an effort to stop it, which was a good thing. "Any better?" he asked, once his scarf was draped over her shoulders. The cold really didn't make too much difference to Evan one way or another, so he was more than willing to share.
She asked for a light and she flipped open his zippo, holding it out to her. Once her cigarette was lit, he grudgingly slid his arm from around her shoulders, taking his own cigarette and setting it between his lips. With it lit, he instantly relaxed even more.
"It probably is," he mused softly. "Colder I mean. But I thinkā¦ it's one of those situations where the people living there are sacrificing a little bit of warmth for that extra safety. Plus, it must be nice during summer."
