WHO: Eloise & Evan. WHAT: MORE gifts. WHERE: Grand Central WHEN: 8th of December -- noonish. RATING: Low. STATUS: Complete.
It wasn't that she had a particular tendency toward sadness, or that she was ever in a particularly bad mood -- but ambivalence was easy and a difficult habit to break, so any deviance from her personal norm was a welcome thing. Besides, a day like this made her feel closer to the world that had been. It was nice.
Olivia is alive, Ellie thought again, happily.
Then she thought: And so is Evan.
He was easy to find. Sleeping, of course, looking just as she'd left him last time. For a moment she hovered in thought, considering her options -- say something? -- but in the end stayed happily quiet, setting her pack down gently. He'd said to wake him if she had to, but Ellie had time; anyway, sleep was a good thing for someone to have.
As she took a seat next to him she could feel herself smiling, strangely aware of her heart beating in her chest; it was funny how neither seemed to fade, even after she'd looked away from him to the book now open on her lap.
