Honestly, Zach could admit without the slightest of doubts that he had absolutely no curiosity about digging around inside of a zombie. “Nope, none at all,” he answered with a half-smile. “I prefer to leave that to the people who know what they’re looking for,” he paused. “After all I’m not actually a doctor.” But lately he felt more like a doctor than a medic, and most people seemed to forget that fact as well.
Although he didn’t find this all particularly fascinating, or not anymore than any other autopsy was, Talia’s interest in it all was intriguing and he found her own curiosity for this kind of stuff was infectious. While he wasn’t as ‘up close and personal’ with the zombie, Zach still had a mask pulled up over his face, a fact he was thankful for as the smell might not be the worse thing he’d smelt – it was still pretty awful.
If he was being entirely honest, Talia was the reason he was here, not the zombie. But he didn’t mind helping her out with things, like getting the containers. He laughed when she made the comment about her shoes. “Nice shoes are hard to find these days, so I understand why you’d hate to ruin those.” This was said with only a hint of a joking tone, because in all honesty things that you liked were hard to find now. “We should get you a tape recorder or something to record your findings as you work,” Zach commented, pretty sure he knew of at least a couple coroner back home that had done exactly that.
He laughed outright when she finally answered his question. “Not at all,” was Zach’s answer, taking a moment before adding. “Pretty sure half the staff in the infirmary already thinks I boss them around for fun.” Which wasn’t the truth, but generally speaking he was fairly bossy when it came to infirmary things. “And you aren’t abusing it,” there was a beat before he was speaking again. “But I’d let you abuse me if you wanted.” He couldn’t resist, although he hoped Talia realized he was entirely joking.
“You aren’t making me clean up your mess, which is a fact I appreciate,” he replied. “But I will help you clean all of this up when you’re done.”
