WHO: Charlie and Jake WHEN: April 20th, 2020, late evening WHAT: In search of something sweet, fattening or both at once WHERE: the kitchen RATING: low?
Charlie was at loose ends this evening, restless and unable to decide what she wanted to do. She was very close to bored, actually, and that was rare for Charlie. Usually, she was good at entertaining herself when necessary. She'd thought about checking on DJ-- again-- but as she'd headed up the corridor that would take her to his cell, she'd remembered that he was staying with April. In a way that was good, because if he had someone with him, she wouldn't have to worry as much about what he might do. In a way it wasn't good, because she didn't want to break into their time together, even if she did feel antsy that she couldn't really check on him herself.
She'd spent time with Maddie during her sidewalk chalk escapades a few days ago, and that had been surprisingly fun; she found herself wanting to make sure her siblings were all okay. Although what she could do if they weren't, she wasn't sure. Just being there helped sometimes. Maybe she should drop in on Zach, she thought. If he happened to have company, though, that could be awkward.
Really, it was late enough that she wasn't comfortable seeking out anyone, so she turned her steps toward the kitchen. Maybe eating something would help with the restlessness. It wasn't as if Charlie hadn't eaten dinner, but it had been light tonight, and her stomach was growling again. She made her way through the compound, wearing sweatpants, a hoodie and furry-looking pink slippers on her feet. What? They had plastic-y stuff on the bottoms, and they were very comfortable.
Once she got into the kitchen area, she turned on a light so she could see what the hell she was doing and started poking around in one of the dry pantries. Wouldn't it be awesome if she found some cookies or snack cakes? She'd almost eat icing straight from the can, although they rarely ever had prepackaged icing; usually somebody had to make it. Even baker's chocolate might be okay. Or no, probably not. That stuff was usually bitter.
