“Not long,” she answered, quirking a sleepy half-smile. “Ten minutes, maybe. Sorry if I woke you.”
With a quiet grunt, she pushed herself up into a sitting position. Because she was sitting on the edge of her half of the bed, she lowered one bare foot to rest on the floor, maintaining her balance. “I stayed another night, like you asked me to, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. No pains other than the backache and baby kicking me.” She glanced over her shoulder at him. “So I'd like to get out of here now. Please.”
“Maybe... Maybe we can stop by the cafeteria on the way home, get some breakfast. Or... Or send someone else to get us breakfast. You'll probably want me off my feet as much as possible now.”
Leah's tone was oddly tentative, especially for her, but only when her mind decided to replay the morning yoga session with Vienna. She'd thought she'd done everything possible to avoid something like this, but maybe it was her fault, after all. Maybe she hadn't done enough to take things easy. The experience had made her doubt herself.
