"Maybe," Red replied, stuffing her free hand into her pocket. "If they'd been more concerned with fucking up zombies rather than trying to become the next Aristotle, they'd probably have stuck around much longer. There are still plenty of stupid people left, though." She gave a small smile and took a drag.
"Red," she said, holding out her hand and making eye contact for the first time since Alex had stepped outside. "I'm the girl who knows how to decimate a city block with a bunsen burner and a beaker of the right chemical combo. I guess that's why they put me in the firehouse. Lots of hoses."
