Zombie or not, Red was immediately alert at the sound of footsteps. It's easy to forget that, while people aren't going to make an early bird buffet out of your innards, they could be just as terrifying. Nothing like the end of the world to draw out the worst in humanity. Red wasn't that stupid, though, and her body stiffened in, ready to take action if need be.
She looked sideways at her new companion, sizing him up. He was a stranger to her. Red hadn't seen him when she went inside, but she hadn't really been paying attention then. She was quiet for a long moment, letting her smoke hang loosely from her slightly chapped lips as she zipped up her worthless spring jacket. Finally, she spoke, an eyebrow arched and a smirk playing on her lips.
"What is it about the zombie apocalypse that makes everyone a philosopher?"
