"It's just one of those things." He shrugged a shoulder. "Simple Green isn't that bad but it's been a long time since I've seen it," he mused. "I was actually surprised to see it here." Toby nodded when Regan pointed out that he couldn't give parental advice. "I know. And I probably wouldn't take it anyway," he mused with a quiet laugh. "Em and Lis are special cases, so..." he trailed off and nodded at Regan's question.
If he wanted a subject change, that was okay. Toby wasn't one to make anyone, even clients, talk about things they weren't ready to. "They've been spending a lot of time with Kori," he explained. "She's been an amazing influence on them." Which he was incredibly grateful for. They'd been lacking a female influence for far too long.
He sighed and nodded his head. "It leads me to believe that maybe he's going for shock value or something." With a pause, he shrugged a shoulder. "Though if we don't know for sure, it's not a risk we should take." Toby didn't really want to entertain the idea that there was someone in the compound willing to do all the things that this person had described. And he wondered, vaguely, who would try the scare tactic method, too. "It's hard to imagine, isn't it? I mean, Evan and the rest of you have put so much trust in these people. Why would anyone betray it?" He nodded his head. "Exactly. There's always a chance that they could uncover it, but it's highly unlikely that they'd remove the paint, right?" he pointed out.
Shaking his head, he sighed a little. "I'd say that it was one or the other, but given the hard time they'd given Evan in the past, and the card they left for Zach, I think it's probably both." He shook his head and shrugged. "Part of me thinks it might be jealousy for the positions of power. Someone who's used to being in power, or always wanted to be in power, jealous of the people who are in power. Part of me thinks that you in security may be next. Or maybe the cafeteria ladies."
With a sigh, Toby said, "Sometimes, people just won't ever be happy." No matter where they were. No matter what the situation was, they weren't happy unless others were miserable.
