Leave it to Ellie to turn a question into a question, Miah thought as a wide grin of his own appeared on his features. “Drinking, partying, living it up, Lo,” he answered as if that was obvious as he reached out a hand to steady her. “Whatever you want.”
His answer held a light tone, the same kind of playfulness to it that her question had held, yet Miah knew deep down that he would do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted to do it. On some level he had to assume Ellie knew that as well, because he felt like it was obvious – like a neon sign hanging over his head. The entire conversation felt like words that they already knew, after all he knew that ‘what’s next’ would continue to be exactly what they were doing, dancing, drinking, carrying on. Like old times.
Tonight he felt alive, parties did that too him. But more than that, Ellie wasn’t walled off, she was laughing, smiling and alive – she was returning to the girl he had so clearly fallen for.
Without hesitation he took her hand when she held it out to him. “Your wish is my command,” His tone was teasing and his words not nearly as slurred as hers, he wasn’t as gone as she was, not yet anyway. “Alright, let’s dance.” And with that he let Ellie tug him towards the makeshift dance floor, kind of like a puppy being lead by it’s master – he wondered if actions like this was what brought about the term ‘puppy love’.
