It was getting more and more difficult to pass time for Jake. He spent hours wandering around, coming and going from the bar, or monopolizing a portion of his sisters time. What time he could anyway since she seemed to be spending larger amounts of time with Jax as the days went by. There was a part of him that grumbled at the thought, wanted to forbid her from seeing the boy and lock her in her room. But he was also painfully aware that Nick had grown in the last two years and she wasn't the sixteen year old he remembered and even less the eight year old he used to carry around on his back.
As such he spent large amounts of time surveying the contents of the maintenance shed or the grounds. It only seemed right since he planned to take up work as groundskeeper when the ground was less frozen and more marsh. A few trees a little grass and he'd have the yard looking park-like by June. Assuming of course he was able to recruit a decently sized crew to help.
"Huh?" He looked up partially surprised that anyone else was poking around the shed. Turning away from the riding mower he'd been giving a once over he let his attention focus on the young man before him. His surprise growing when he connected the face with a name. Jax. Quirking an eyebrow at him, Jake leaned back against the mower. "Just checking out what I have to work with now that spring is coming. You?" His tone was mild even if the words could be construed as accusatory. Surprise and a personal distrust for the boy dating his sister coloring his reaction toward his visitor.
