Talia was trying to be sneaky, but she had very little confidence that she was being one hundred percent successful about it. Ever since Zach came out of quarantine she’d been trying to monitor how much he did around the infirmary. Workaholic that he was. But his body had been through a lot of stress; yes even just sitting in a quarantine room, so she didn’t want him to jump in with both feet and land himself in one of the beds suffering exhaustion. She was a doctor after all; it was her responsibility to care for people. Which was precisely why she’d roped him into doing a few small inventory things with her, so she could keep an eye on him. She knew that Dr. Samson was somewhere around too, though she hadn’t asked if he was still officially Zach’s tail. It seemed in bad taste to ask someone if they still had their ‘in case I go zombie’ failsafe following them. “Pass me that box please,” she said, leaning across the desk, hands outstretched. “I’d get it myself, but I’m comfortable here,” she added with a flash of a smile. She’d missed having him around the infirmary. The rest of the staff was capable, but they didn’t have the same kind of friendship; Zach was, on occasion, one of the few people that remembered Talia had more of a sense of humor than people gave her credit for. More of a sense of fun that most people figured too. “And you’ve been confined, stretching your legs a little will be good for you,” she told him in her best ‘doctor’ voice. She was being a little ridiculous, but it was in hopes that he hadn’t seen through her plan yet. It was a little bit of a mystery how he would take her trying to keep him from working. Most of her believed he wouldn’t take it badly, but people didn’t like to be subtly controlled either, though she hardly qualified her actions that way. She skirted subjects too. Like when the Johnson family had planned for the funeral for their brother. Considering it was part of the reason that Zach had ended up in quarantine to begin with it seemed like a bad idea to bring it up. If he wanted to say something he could, but she intended to keep conversation light for as long as she could. |
