“Well, not just that, but it's eye-catching, yeah?” The green wasn't as eye-catching as the aqua had been, or the orange, but it still turned heads and made people pay attention. There were many reasons she wanted to be looked at, the core of which was the fact that she simply didn't want to be forgotten about. She wanted to be seen as important. It was an insecurity that came from being an adopted child.
Nodding, she said, “Exactly. I keep up with network things, so if there was something about you being blind--” or crazy, if she was remembering correctly that that was how that rumor got started “--I'd know.”
“Me too. But then I just crawled to the donkey to pin the tail on. It was sort of cheating, but I was a kid the last time I played it, so nobody cared that I didn't do it right.” Random deviations from the original topic was a habit of Maddie's as well, so she didn't mind the detour. She still thought April was a bit odd – mostly that had to do with her intelligence level – but she didn't mind the other girl's company.
Maddie scoffed when April said she was in the lead, but didn't respond until after she'd taken her next shot. “Underdog, remember? I'm totally gonna make a comeback and beat you at this.”
