"Well jeez, must be that cop instinct or something," she returned the joke and shrugged a shoulder. "I swear, I'm usually more graceful than this. Juggling one's own body-mass in items can sort of..." she looked at the stuff on the floor, "cancel out grace, I guess. Turn dancers in to bumbling idiots who trip over their own feet or something." She pushed some hair behind her ear and grabbed something from just outside of Regan's reach.
She snorted a laugh. "No, definitely not. If I'd known that I was going to be as stocked as one of the medical closets when I came in today, I'd have definitely been more prepared." She paused. Had she known? Had that been in the packet she'd read over? She couldn't remember. Another example of her exhaustion catching up to her. "Or at least asked someone with stronger arms than I've got to be more prepared," she added with a smirk. "Guess I'm lucky you happened by when you did." She stood back up straight, then chuckled at his joke. "I'd say that I wish I was taller, stronger, but..." she shook her head. "Being small has its advantages." She paused and thought for a second, "none of which I can really think of right now, but that's another point entirely. There are advantages, I swear!"
Rae looked at the crutches. "Hey! I'm bigger than the crutches!" she said, pretending to be offended and scoffing a little to illustrate her pretend offense. "And if I had a free hand I'd shove you right now, so count yourself lucky I don't," she added, making a face at him instead and then laughing at how juvenile it was.
There it was again. Someone telling her to take a break. She couldn't count how many people had suggested that over the past few days, and they'd all gotten the exact same answer she was about to give Regan. "I'll rest when this is all over," she insisted. "I wouldn't feel right stopping right now. When April and Silas and Lucas are all not feeling well. And I've got my son to look after too. There's no break from that," she pointed out. "When all the adults are on their feet again. Then I'll rest." But for now, she couldn't. "Hey, how do you know I'm not superwoman?" she asked. "Superheroes have alter egos, right? So Rae Alghren might just be my mild-mannered alter ego. I don't have indie glasses or anything, but..." she shrugged.
With a nod, Rae looked in the direction of Silas' room. "I think Samson is in there right now. I figured it would be a good time for me to carry this stuff back to the room, but... well, you know the rest," she held the sleeves of her jacket together and looked at the door when it seemed like he was going to leave. "I could always make multiple trips, I guess," she responded when he asked her about bringing the load back to her place. Of course, help wouldn't be unwelcome, either. She chuckled when he offered, and at how he offered. "Well, I wasn't going to ask, because it seemed like you had somewhere you wanted to be," she nodded in the direction of Topher's room. "But since you offered... if you're sure..."
