Luke was never the kind to say no to a good game of hide and seek.
He bent down to Marigold's level, letting the child drag him out of the hall and into a bordering room. Mommy's slow now, but she's still fast.
Right. Leah was pregnant.
For a moment, Luke reconsidered his participation in Marigold's mischief; then again, it definitely wasn't the right thing to do to let her wander around the infirmary alone. Even he knew that. The Quarantine area was a bit too close, and definitely not a place for little people with big personalities.
"Okay," he whispered, after they'd maneuvered themselves into Marigold's "perfect" spot: a dark corner shielded by a table and boxes, only just low enough to hide the top of Luke's shaggy head. "If mommy comes in, let's jump the fu... let's jump out and surprise her. Just like a party."
