A familiar voice, one she'd spent listening to many days, whenever she got time to spend with Georgie. Usually this particular voice was singing, being silly, making her laugh. Up to this point, Marigold had only been paying attention to people's legs and feet as she passed by, but when she heard her name and recognized the voice, she stopped and turned around.
Her expression, if it was possible, lit up even more than it had been already. “Luuuke!” With a grin, she reached for one of his hands and tugged. “I'm hiding from Mommy! Will you hide with me? She'll never find us down here,” she said, pointing with her other hand (the one with Puppet Brandon still attached) towards the designated Quarantine area.
“You better hurry,” she added seriously, using the puppet to talk for her. “Mommy's slow now, but she's still fast.”
In the distance, she could hear her mom calling her name, the sound getting louder and louder the closer she got. If they waited too long out here in the open, Mommy would find them for sure and the game just wasn't fun when it ended too soon.
She tugged again on Luke's hand. “C'mon! C'mon, Luke! I know the perfect hiding place!” Spoken with the confidence of a child, despite the fact she'd never been in this part of the infirmary.
