It wasn't so ungodly cold or rainy, which meant Nick was going to soak up whatever semi-nice weather they could get. Being inside all the time was driving her up a wall, she wasn't the sort that liked being caged up like that, never had been. The courtyard always seemed to be the place she found herself, and she wasn't going to admit that she had watched an old youtube video on her phone earlier, a whole gymnastics tumbling pace, and had actually managed to do the whole freaking thing perfectly. Testing out this whole mimicking thing or whatever it was was kind of fun.
She wouldn't tell anyone she was doing this though, because she felt kind of silly seeing just how far this new ability went. Like if it was limited to simple things or not. So far it seemed like 'not' was the answer.
Nick had been so focused on her own going on's that she hadn't even noticed Maddie hanging around until she glanced over at the swing set and saw the other girl talking to what looked like a little kid. What's going on? Was the first thought that raced through Nick's head. Maddie wasn't ever really nice to the kids, though she wasn't mean to them either - from what Nick could tell she mostly ignored them or avoided them.
So this was a weird change in behavior for Maddie, the kind of weird change in behavior that had Nick wondering if a pod person had snatched Maddie up and replaced her. She wasn't going to entertain that thought to heavily though, because that could lead to getting her hopes up, and thus having them dashed when it turned out it was the same old Maddie - the one that hated her with a fiery passion.
Although ever voice in her head told her not to say anything, to act like she hadn't seen Maddie and go on her merry way, that voice got ignored hardcore. Shoving her hands into her coat pockets, she began walking towards the older girl. "Do I even want to know why you're talking to three year olds now?" Nick asked, though the normal bite she would have had to her tone was lacking, replaced with more of a curious tone.
