moar wordz XD
Lifting an eyebrow, Jackie dipped her head to one side in semblance of a yes. Fortunately, it only happened in casual conversation. If the habit was any more common, she wouldn't have been as good at either of her jobs as she'd been. Smiling, she winked when he went along with doing her a favor. “Oh, I absolutely said something clever. Yes, indeed. Man, was it fucking clever. Think I overimpressed myself with that one.”
“As strongly as people hate the person spreading rumors around the compound, I'd say it'd be pretty easy to get a lynch mob together. Infighting's an easy way to throw us all off our guard, though.” The tone was casual enough, but concern about the threat the Bedford gang posed was always lingering in the back of her mind. There was no point in worrying herself sick over it, but she was as aware of that particular danger as she was always subconsciously of the zombies. “Frankly, as annoying as they are, I think thieves are the least of my worries.” She grinned with exaggerated pride when he pronounced her the queen of the gym. She could live with that.
There were far too many innuendo jokes one could make in the setting of a gym. Smirking wide enough to rival the Grinch, Jackie nudged him lightly with her elbow. “You're probably lucky I'm one of those chicks who appreciates the confidence.”
At least he wasn't denying it. In fact, she actually respected him for owning up to his terrible bedside manner. “Hey, as far as I'm concerned, you can be a complete asshole to me if it means saving my life. I can guaran-damn-tee you it wouldn't be the first time somebody insulted me. Besides, I've heard all the best medics were a little incompetent when it came to actually talking to the person they're helping.”
“I like to think they will eventually. Not overnight, obviously. But fifty years from now? A hundred? Yeah, I think civilization will eventually rebuild.” Probably not during their lifetime, though. The zombie : human ratio was too far off balance. “Complaining can be fun sometimes. Sometimes it's unavoidable, too. But I don't make a habit of it.”
Jackie took her place at the head of the bench, getting into spotting position. She adjusted the weights and motioned for Zach to take his place on the bench. “We'll start off with four sets of ten reps and work our way up. You need music to lift by, or you prefer quiet?”
