“It’d be an undocumented crazy then, because I’ve seen everyone’s medical files,” he answered with a self-satisfied smirk. “And yours doesn’t have crazy listed on it.” Granted half of the files were just cobbled together with the information that people were willing to tell them. So maybe Jackie had left that little tidbit of information out when the medical staff had poked at her when they were updating all the files.
Shaking his head, he chuckled. “Nah, the gym is one of the few places I see outside of the walls of the infirmary, so I’d like to avoid getting my ass kicked out of it.” Although it maybe would be amusing to see if Jackie really would get upset enough to physically remove him from the gym. The pay off wasn’t worth losing a place to work out though, so he dashed any ideas he had of pushing her buttons. “Then I’m in luck, means you won’t be easily offended or shit like that.”
In all honesty he trusted her not to push beyond whatever he could handle, which if he was letting ego play any kind of roll, there was a hell of a lot he could handle before breaking. “Trust me, I’ve got stamina,” He would let her take that however she wanted. In any other situation he probably would have offered to show her just how true that was. But saying that now would just make him sound like an idiot, because obviously she was going to figure that out from the workout she planned to put him through.
Shrugging his shoulders as if the say ‘So sue me.’ Zach was still smirking as he countered her words with a few of his own. “Sweet-talking has served me well,” got him out of a lot of shit growing up and a lot of hairy situations with women. “If it bothers you I can lay off, although that may be more of strain than the actual workout will be.” He wasn’t going to bug Jackie, not since she was offering up her expertise when she really didn’t have to. “For the record though, I never say something I don’t mean.” Something about her thinking he was just trying to butter her up with words bothered him. He might be a sweet-talker, but he was honest about his compliments.
Zach liked the attention he could get; he’d be lying if he said he didn’t. So what if he put on more of a show than was needed? Wasn’t like was killing anyone, and yes even the guy with one of the biggest egos in Sing Sing could use a little boost from time to time. Anyway, nobody had said that Jackie had to look, though he was pleased that she had.
If he postured a little bit he didn’t think anyone could blame him, Zach was just self-assured enough to cocky like that. “I’ve found things go better that way,” he answered as she started her watch. “And a woman who will take charge is one hell of a turn on.” He added right before starting the warmup.
