Laughing softly, April made one of those silly little faces a person makes when interacting with a baby before meeting Rae’s gaze and offering her cousin a small smile. “I swear you’ve got yourself a little Einstein on your hands,” granted that could very well be a very biased a opinion from someone who thought the world of EJ. Family was allowed to be biased though, right? “Bugging out on you, huh?” She asked as she moved over to Rae and EJ. “And of course I’ll help get him out of his jacket, we can’t have him cooking after all.” She might not know everything about babies, but she was fairly certain an overheated baby would be a really bad thing.
Working the little jacket off of EJ, April just shook her head in amusement when Rae made the comment about hoping she brought her appetite. “I may not eat as much as Lucas or James might have, but I’m definitely hungry, especially if you made Aunt Dee’s sweetbread to go along with Grandma’s soup,” it wouldn’t be exactly the same, still, April liked the fact that they still held onto things like this. “Yeah, about that, what exactly earns Lucas all the sweets anyway?” She teased, schooling her expression into a bit of a calculating or skeptical look. “Is it your way of keeping him in check?” It’s not like anyone could blame Rae if it was her attempt to keep Lucas calm. “Is it totally out of line to hope they’re strawberry?” April had a weakness for strawberry cupcakes, though she couldn’t remember the last time she had had one.
Taking her own seat at the little table, she watched as Rae went about shifting EJ in her arms and then finally decided to place the little guy in his carseat. It was still a little strange to think that her cousin had a kid, but she had mostly adjusted to that fact now. Even if it did just feel like yesterday that they had all been children themselves.
“Of course he’s going to be, especially when he’s got a role model like Luke around,” April pointed out with a little smirk. “Thankfully you’ve got a few years to prepare for that.” Although she didn’t think it would be that horrible, but she was beyond used to Lucas and his behavior by now – and in some ways she could be just as troublesome as her brother. She just did it in a more subtle way, and hadn’t really done anything too outrageous since she got to Sing Sing.
Shifting in her chair, April didn’t really fidget so much as shift her silverware around a moment before speaking. “So ummm. Sorry about the whole fighting thing…” Sure they had made up over the intranet or whatever, but that didn’t hold the same weight as an honest to god apology in person held – at least not in April’s opinion.
