“Some people would actually call it charming,” Zach shot back with a smirk still turning up the corners of his mouth. In all reality Bea wasn’t the first woman to call him smarmy and she likely wouldn’t be the last. “Pretty sure it takes more than a petite woman to do any kind of real damage to me,” at least physically. His ego could be bruised, he just didn’t go around advertising that fact. “So yeah, I’m completely okay.”
Despite the fact that this was the second time in two months that he had been called ‘smarmy’ by a woman, Zach wasn’t going to change who he was. It wasn’t like he was one of those greased idiots from that Jersey Shore show or whatever. He really did think he was more ‘charming’ than ‘smarmy’, but he wasn’t going to argue that point with Bea.
Letting the smirk turn into something more like a smile, Zach nodded. “I was in the infirmary, but they let us out of there once in awhile to eat, sleep and shower,” granted he didn’t get out of the infirmary as much as some of the other medical staff did – but that was entirely by choice. Now that Dillon was back to talking to them, he was trying to make more of an effort to get in time with both Maddie and Dillon – and sometimes Charlie when he could actually track her down.
“We’re not on death watch currently,” He answered as he shoved his hands into his pockets. There was the child that had been brought in a couple days ago, the one in quarantine, but she wasn’t necessarily there responsibility at the moment. They were focusing on the patients they could save, and unless someone came up with a miracle Zach had a feeling they wouldn’t be able to save that little girl. “And people are useless if they’re dizzy from hunger,” he added. “Which means I’m on a food run.” It would wind up being whatever he could trek back with him to the infirmary, but that was better than nothing.
